Portland Hot 'Cross Action

Saturday's race was a trip. I used the pit pass, mostly to see what it was like in there. I only had one wheel and a 5mm allen key to offer if there was any trouble. I wasn't going to be fixing much of anything if there turned out to be a problem. So there were two spots to come into the pit. It was raining, and real muddy. All these ladies were flying into the pit, and grabbing new bikes every couple laps. Upon exiting several of them would either fall down or careen into the snow fence. There was a lot going on. I was following Maria, back and forth on both sides of the pit, you know incase she needed on wheel or a 5mm allen key. Back and forth, back and forth. Hey, is that Gary Fisher standing right next to me in a trench coat that makes him look the angel of death? Cant be... Must be... No one else wears glasses like that.

It didn't stop raining for Sunday, and it got even muddier. I opted not to hang in the pit, since we still only had a rear wheel and a 5mm allen key. Plus I wanted to get some pictures. The course was getting ridiculous. Waterholes up past the hubs. I wandered the tents for a while, ran into The Original. He gave me a Guiness, and then I shot a bunch of pictures. It was a good day.
