Major Wirth Rant

Last night the MPRB approved a new budget which requires users of the Wirth MTB trail to pay an annual user fee. You can read all about it here and here, and here if you really want to. I was working during both of the meetings, but I'm not going to make excuses. I probably wouldn't have gone anyways. I've always been rubbed a little bit the wrong way by the morc organization and the people in it. Ever since they finished the first loop there and shut down all the old stuff I've felt pretty helpless about the whole situation. I've never been a paying member, and I doubt that I ever will be. I'm just waiting for someone to blame this on a lack of membership, volunteer hours, etc, etc, because NONE of that would have made the smallest difference. Sounds like the MPRB tried to sneak this one in at the last minute without anyone knowing.

Doing away with all the good trail and building dumbed down official trails to placate the MPRB, and gain political ground doesn't sound like that great an idea now, does it?
