Too Cold to Shower

I got a ride to work today, it's damn cold out. But that doesn't stop the neighbors upstairs from leaving the outside door wide open all day long, then wondering to us why their energy bill is so high. I was screaming a thousand reasons in my head (your success rate for turning off lights is about 60%, your success rate for closing doors is about 35%, energy prices may be up as much as 20% over last year, etc.) but didn't have the gumption to say any of them. They seem too obvious to point out. At first I thought they might be exceptionally dumb, but then I realized they seem pretty average on the outside. Both have jobs, things like that. I think dumb might just be the new average in America.

I've been thinking a lot about buying a torch lately. I'd like to be able to start making some simple modifications to frames and stuff, a braze on here and there for starts. I figure I can find all the practice tubing I could want in the dumpster behind the shop. It seems like the next logical step. A torch is one of the ultimate tools, right up there with metal lathes and chainsaws. Too bad they're so spendy, the guy I talked to at Oxygen Service Co priced it out at almost $700 (over if you include 7% sales tax. That shiny new stadium will be worth it! Drink the ball sports kool-aid!) Maybe I'll take the plunge with the cash from my road bike, which I just sold.

I hereby declare it too cold to shower, until further notice. I needs them oils to stay warm.

I totally agree with you. Taking a shower before riding to work is the stupidest thing to do when your hair will freeze anyway.

$700, huh. Fuck. How about a used one? You need the two big tanks the hoses and the gun thingee right? Oh, and probably some regulators. I suppose. Craigslist?
